Get all the Rugby World Cup on Sky Digital without paying for Setanta

This tip was e-mailed in to us here today. If you want to catch all the games of the rugby world cup if you have a Sky Digital package, it’s mostly believed that you have to subscribe to the Setanta Sports package at €18 per month.

Apparently there’s another way, and for free. ITV4 are showing all of the games as well in conjunction with ITV1, so why not tune in those stations on your Sky Digital box and watch for free.

The instructions (which because we’re on NTL Digital we can’t confirm) are as follows:

  1. Press the Services button on your remote control.
  2. Press the 4 button twice.
  3. Fill in the settings below and follow the on-screen instructions:-

The UTV/ITV channels are as follows:-

10758 V 22 5/6 (ITV4)
10832 H 22 5/6
10891 H 22 5/6
10906 V 22 5/6

The BBC channels are as follows:-
10733 H 22 5/6
10803 H 22 5/6
10847 V 22 5/6

Try this out and let us know if it works.

Just reading the Sky link above, it does seem that there is no contract period for Setanta Sports on Sky, so if this doesn’t work, you could possibly subscribe for a month and then cancel. Check for any subscribe or unsubscribe charges though.

Setanta don’t have a minimum contract any more. You can subscribe for a month at a time. However, as I understand it they charge a €10 fee for setting you up. They charge this EACH time that you subscribe to them – even if you do it online.

Here’s a Broadband Video that will show you how to check availability by postcode, how perform a broadband speed test and where to find broadband forums to answer your questions. There are also offers for SKY Broadband.
