Always Check Your Change

Check your change

Times are tough for everyone these days. Businesses and customers alike are worried about where the next few euros are going to come from.

That makes it even more important then that you make sure you always get what’s coming to you – especially your change in shops.

Three times in the past week I’ve been short changed – twice in a restaurant and once in a bar. And on at least 2 of those times, I’m positive it was done on purpose.

How can you tell? Well, when you tell them you think their change is wrong and they go straight to the till rather than checking first, you know you’re being ripped off.

Another thing to watch out for is small distractions when you’re about to get your change. These could be cashiers talking to their friends, or dropping the change before giving it to you, and are indications that might be about to be short changed.
