First of all, strings do break; it's part of the guitar-owning process!! For someone who isn't used to tuning a guitar, it is very easy to get "lost" and end up overtightening the string. But strings will break through regular use too. Secondly (and I'm not trying to be smart here), if someone wants to buy an instrument, I would advise them that they go to a instrument shop, and not a toy shop. Apart from bigger range and better quality, you will also get proper advice from people who play.
