This problem is caused by Mastercard, not the bookies. If you deposit with Laser or Visa they will pay you back straight to your card/bank account.

The problem with Mastercard is that fraudsters know this, so when they steal a Mastercard, they know if they deposit to a gaming site, they will get a withdrawal by a different method. That is why the bookies have to ask for id to make sure the owner of the card is genuine.

Mastercard are working on a solution which will allow bookies to pay back to the card but this is some way away.

It is also worth mentioning that you cannot use a Mastercard to deposit or withdraw to a gaming site via Paypal at all.

Disclosure: I work for an online bookmaker.
