Restaurant - 101
Talbot Street
This is one of Dublin's best kept secrets. Looks a bit dodgy from the
outside but it's nice upstairs. The Egon Ronay award for food is the
giveaway though - the food is quite spectacular! The chicken salad has to be
eaten to be believed!
As for price - got 2 starters, 2 main courses and two pints of carlsberg for
around €50.
check it out.

Buying CDs
Online
The Great Irish CD swindle
If you can wait a couple of extra days for CDs/DVD/Games, log onto
www.Play.com.
Example: New Strokes Album, Room on Fire, currently for sale for £7.99 on
Play.com incl delivery (That's less than €12) - I'm sure you'd be hard
pushed to find it for less than €20 on Dublin highstreet!
I've used Play.com for the last few years, always found them reliable. Only
once did I not receive an order, and when I called them, they sent out a
replacement without question!

Price of a Pint
I was in Tamangoes last weekend.
Went up to the bar and bought two pints of Miller.
I was charged €70, €3.50 each, that is a brilliant price for a pint,
especially in a nightclub
Now, this was before midnight so i don't know if they put their prices up
after that, but at least some nightclubs aren't ripping us off!

Mc Elhinneys
Store
Seems like it is totally unnecessary
to post a message about this store, it seems so popular. We cannot pass
without calling in , and so often meet friends from all parts of the country
there!
Two points I would specially like to make.... the wonderful politeness,
friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff members we have ever met
there...it is such a pleasure. 10/10
Also , the value in the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but very good value. 8/10

Mill Park
Hotel, Donegal Town
As a person who drives around the
country a lot, I constantly seek somewhere to just stop and have a decent
cup of coffee to satisfy the cravings.
Was in here on Tuesday and in the bar, got just what the doctor ordered.
Pretty quick service, and a pot of coffee as well, not just a cup.
Nice surroundings as well.
Though at €4.15 for a mineral water and a coffee, it's no bargain of the
month.

O'Neills,
Suffolk Street O'Neills pub just off Dame
St. in D2 is fantastic for lunches. They do all roasts and you will not
leave hungry. The sandwiches, soups and salads are fabulous as well and I
honestly can not complain about the food at all.
As it is so fantastic, you may have to line up for 5
minutes but that is at peak times.
I must admit the price of their coke is a bit
expensive, but that would have to be the only gripe I have about the place.
Perfect place for a feed when hungover as it covers
everything you might want to eat, the hardest choice is what to have.

Salamanca
- Restaurant - Trinity Street, Dublin 2
As far as I know this is a fairly new restaurant. It is has a 'Tapas'
menu which is fantastic! You just pick and choose as many dishes as you
like.
There is a great mixture of tastes and flavours. Service is very quick
and friendly. It is usually very busy so you may have to go, put your name
down and then come back 20 / 30 mins later. I had my doubts about hanging
around waiting for a table but it is definitely worth it.
The only negative comment is that they guy who greets you when you come
in could be a bit more friendly!!

Waiting
for baggage
Usual delay in my experience is 30 to 40 minutes.........until yesterday
October 7 ! I was third or fourth off the afternoon Ryanair flight from
Charleroi, walked briskly to luggage reclaim, found the correct belt,
AND......... there was my bag just emerging from the mysterious depths!
Wonderful! Had Ryanair reformed?Had Aer Rianta finally realised they exist
to serve the travelling public?? Sorry folks, too good to be true! A
government Minister had been a passenger on the flight!!
Operational Reasons at work again, but not for your benefit or mine . Ho,Hum!

Good
Supermarket
Hi
Firstly i have to ask why when this site was given a column in THE ECHO
(rubbish as it can be !)has no one given their views??
What i wanted to tell eveyone is about a great service that SUPERVALU
Glanmire have, you can ring in your order and they will deliver it to your
DOOR! no charges like TESCO(credit card).Pay the lads cash and they will
even give you tokens if your collecting them!
this has been invaluable to the missus (2 small kids) when i have the car.
Only available in surronding areas, but if other supermarkets could do the
same (they make enough money) it would show through service.
Not used to typing theses things so if it looks rubbish sorry!

Howth
The best bar food can be sought at Krugers which is
part of the Top House bar on the main street of Howth on the right hand side
of the church if you are coming from the direction of the pier. Varied
selection of bar food and main courses......good value.....good food
Best restaurant is The Wheelhouse which is located on Harbour Road,
excellent meals and service...well worth a visit.

Bar (for food) - Good!
For drinks its the same crazy prices
but surprisingly Q bar on O'Connell bridge does a varied and very reasonably
priced lunch menu. Chicken wraps, salad and a mountain of wedges for under
€6, Main courses vary from €6.25 (Vegetarian option) to €8ish (carvery
option). Good portions and friendly service.

Cafe in Galway Shopping Center - Rip Off
The cafe in the Galway Shopping Center on the Headford Rd charges a whopping
€1.30 for a small (approx 4 inches) roll an a little piece of Lo-Lo butter.
Shocking...

Cafe in Shopping Centre
This is a grim place, but how else could it be, in an
open area. I always go across the road to the little cafe in Bellisimo
beside Woodys. Pleasant staff and surroundings, and good service.A
good-sized scone and jam is 1.20 and a coffee 1.50 . I think it is good
value, and worth crossing a busy road for.

The
Wild Onion, High Street, Limerick
I’ve had a lot of breakfasts in my time, like the rest
of you, but this is something special. I don’t know why this lovely American
couple picked Limerick to share their joyful food with but we love them for
it. I guarantee you’ll never think of Hash Browns in the same way again. And
the sausage…and the eggs…and the coffee.
I’ve never sampled the lunch menu, mainly because I’m too full after the
breakfast. The service level here is outstanding and shows us just how far
behind the US we are, in attitude and skill.
Plus, if you can prove it’s your birthday you get a giant cookie!
The only 10/10 I've ever given

Forget
Rip-off Tesco - Go to Lidl
If you want value for your money try Lidl in Finglas
and forget Tesco's rip-off prices.
I do my weekly shop in Lidl and fill in the gaps with Tesco. Lidl have
amazing value for money and, despite what the begrudgers say, it is quite
possible to put healthy food in your basket. Their range of vegetables is
good (go early in the day) and also look for frozen tuna steaks and other
frozen fish.
I reckon I save 200 euro per month by shopping in Lidl.

The
Lemon Peel
I have to tell someone about this place- its was
amazing.
Bearing in mind that I am a hard women to please this restaurant was
stellar.
I had booked in a large group, and it was a small restaurant but the chef
gave (our rather noisy bunch) the same attention as the romantic couples in
the corners. He came twice to our table and even took a photo for us. The
wait staff were also very attentive.
As for the food is was delicious. I had the best spring roll of my
experience (not a drop of grease in sight- no small miracle) and some very
tender chicken for my main course. The sauces were very tasty and he dodged
that thing alot of restaurants fall down on.....drenching everything in
sauce or gravy. The veg was very nicely cooked and lots of it was, strangely
enough, mashed- as in mashed carrot and parsnip....old style, yum, much
nicer than my mother's.
You get unlimited tea and coffee with the Early Bird menu and for the whole
lot with 3-4 glasses of wine it came to an incredible 28 euro. Now that's
good value!
