Golden Discs in Frascati Centre, Blackrock

Was in Golden Discs in Dun Laogharie looking for the 3 series box set of "Family Guy" on DVD.

A pretty crazy €79.99 there.

Just happened to be in Golden Discs in the Frascati Centre in Blackrock.

Same DVD box set, same company, a few miles apart - they wanted €89.99.

It's profiteering at it's worst.

Other new additions recently...

Markree Castle - Don't go

Stayed here after a wedding at the same venue. I had read the previous comment so I wasn't expecting anything great. As it turned out it was a lot worse than Jensen described. The wedding was on a cold December day and electric heater in our room wasn't working, I complained to reception but nothing was done about it, I eventually had to fix it myself by taking a fuse out of the TV plug. It was simple to fix but had obviously been blown for some time as the room was very damp.
Service was appallingly bad.
Markree Castle is the coldest, dampest and draughtiest place I’ve ever stayed in, In short it’s a dump. Don’t go there.

0/10 (As I can’t think of any positive points)

 dingle

to whom it may concern,
dingle is one of the most beautiful places to go, its views, its culture, some of the people but in my own experience its changed from a place with open arms to a place with closed arms if you don't have money. don't get me wrong, it still is cheap compared to some places in Ireland but its nearly 4 euro for a pint in some pubs. the only night club in town changes its price nearly everyday. some pubs even have different menu's for visitors and non-locals. the only reason i am putting up this is i really do hope that people will see from dingle that the more they do this money grabbing the more people will stop coming to see our universal town that has brought love, imagination into every1's heart that has seen its beauty. mise le meas

 Chilli Club Dublin 2

This restaurant has an excellent reputation for food and atmosphere. Was there recently with a group of 5. The food was quite good but the service was obnoxious. The waiter treated us as if we were an irritation and could not conceal his irritation when we did not order as quickly as suited him. A second waiter was pleasant. We ate the food and left with a bad taste in our mouth. Wont hurry back.

 Supermucs

Supermacs in the Headford Road Shopping Centre. Snadwich bar called Relish in Supermacs. Ordered a sandwich - was charged as follows:

Two slices of bread (no butter/mayo) €1.10
One slice of ham - €1.75
Sprinkle of grated cheese - €0.50

What a rip off.

Appreciation of the students!!!What a Joke!!

Im a final year arts student and im not even bothered now if i never go to the glenroyal ever again even if i am in my final month or so here.Entrance and drinks are over priced, the place is always jammed, u wouldnt get the temps inside that place in the Canaries and well most importantly they dont give a dam bout us students!! we are the reason they could afford to refurbish the place- we basically paid for the reburbishment (i feel personally i should nearly have a share in the place with the the tills i filled in first year ;) ), and when have they ever offered us any sort of acknowledgement-even a cheap drinks promotion!!We are the reason that place is open on a wednesday and thursday, students have funded and filled their nightclub when no one else would!! Take for example the Leinster Arms- fair play- a pub that finally appreciates the students money, friendly staff, great atmosphere especially on a monday night and hey all drinks on monday for 3 yo yo's !!Like where would you get that!! how could one complain about it!! you wouldn't get that offer anywhere else!!

 glenroyal..!!!

students are finally realizing the greedy manipulative attitude of the glenroyal. with the refurbishment of the union bar in the summer lets hope that students will really start to vote with their feet. at least the profits made there are openly distributed back into student services and promoting the bar. the glenroyal should at least start providing college clubs with decent sponsorship. as for the L.A and 3euro drinks- theyre selling up in a couple of months sounds like a good way to increase turnover to me and raise their selling price-nothing more. stay local and get involved in promoting your own bar and contribute your suggestions for its development to the union! :p

Charlestown

I reckon you do your best to avoid ever having to buy petrol in this town.

I found only 2 petrol stations there last Saturday. And both were charging a crazy 96.9c per litre.

Makes you wonder what happened to competition in the town?

 Travellers Friend, Castlebar

I attended the Playboy of the Western World in the Travellers Friend recently and decided I would have dinner there before the play. The service was appauling. I waited five minutes to get served a drink, being totally ignored by two staff members behind the bar before a third appeared and served me. I had to go find a staff member to take my dinner order. It took half an hour for my meal to arrive, leaving me 10 minutes to eat it before leaving to see the play. I also noticed that somebody else's starter arrived at two incorrect tables before it found its rightful owner. Overall the service was very unprofessional, the staff looked like amateurs on a weekend job! I will not be eating there again.
