What ridiculous charges have you seen in restaurants?

Conor Pope, of Irish Times Pricewatch fame, asked the question last week on Twitter about ridiculous “extras” that we may have seen in restaurants.

Restaurants charging for ketchup, butter and jam and stuff – is it okay? A big prize for anyone with outreagous examples of the practice.

We’re all familiar with being charged in some places for the “dash of blackcurrant” in a pub, and the odd place that tries to charge for tap water, but what else have you noticed? Head on over to Conor on Twitter, or to his blog, to let him know.

My contribution actually came from a ValueIreland.com reader last week, via text:

This seems expensive to me but I’m not sure if I’m over-reacting. The Juggys Well restaurant in Glasthule, Co. Dublin charges €3.95 for soup at lunchtime, but each slice of bread with it costs an extra 70c. I was a little taken aback.
