Brian Lenihan, Wordle and our October Budget

Yesterday, Brian Lenihan gave a speech where he brought forward our 2009 budget from December to October. In a move that’s been viewed as either prudence on the part of the government acting early to ease our supposed woes, or as panic by a crowd of politicians who don’t know what they’re doing.

The full text of the speech was published here in todays Irish Times (available here). Inspired by some recent work by Gavin of Gavin’s Blog, I put the speech through the brilliant Wordle website. In case you haven’t seen it before, from the Wordle website:

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.

What would make Wordle even better was if they could read between the lines of a speech as well – then we’d see that Brian’s (bombshell) speech might actually look like this:
