| general consumer tips...
You've been ripped off. You've been poorly
treated. You have an issue with a business, a shop, or a service provider. Remember
though, some rip-offs are not covered by
legislation and are merely just businesses taking liberties by charging high
prices.
Here is a key list of tips you should remember
when purchasing anything in Ireland.
 | Before agreeing to purchase anything,
you should always be aware of the price to be paid. |
 | Confirm where necessary what you
expect in return for this purchase price. |
 | If you then do not receive what you
expect, question the seller - complain. |
 | If you are not still happy, the
further points below should be noted. |
 | And let Value Ireland know. |
Ultimately, it is down to us as consumers
to have our views known, and to act in our own best interests. Only through informing others, who may
then avoid these rip-off businesses, will they finally begin to realise that
they cannot get away with their rip-off activities.
As mentioned above, if you are
unhappy with how you have been treated, we at Value Ireland want you to remember that as an Irish
consumer -
 | You have defined consumer rights.

 | You should complain if you are not happy.
 | You are entitled to a satisfactory response from a
business when you complain.
 | You have further alternatives if you're not happy with
this response.

 | Finally, there are
organisations there to advise and help
you. |
The Value Ireland Forum is supplementary
to all of the above consumer activities as an aid to informing others of rip-off
businesses and practices. We want you to pursue your Consumer Rights.
However, we want to know if you have
problems with business in order to warn others, especially if you have pursued
your rights and still are not satisfied with the response.
