Meteor Mobile pay back 23,000

MOBILE phone company Meteor yesterday promised to reimburse more than 23,000 customers who were overcharged for calls. The firm announced the move after it emerged customers had been overcharged for thousands of calls over a two-year period.

A spokesman yesterday pledged every customer would be given all the cash back – with a 10 per cent bonus to say sorry.

But he added that more than 16,000 of the people had been overcharged by just E1 and just 15 people had overpaid by more than EUR30.

He said: “In the last month we discovered the problem so we immediately took steps to rectify it.”
